The Localization Initiative, a Yemeni CSOs initiative for the localisation and optimization of response mechanisms in Yemen, held a virtual workshop yesterday to present the third revision of its comprehensive localization strategy. The strategy, titled "Strategy for the Localization and Optimization of Humanitarian and Development Response in Yemen," was initially drafted in December 2022 by a task force of local and national CSOs. It aims to provide a roadmap at the national level for optimizing the response system and advocating for the adherence to the Grand Bargain commitments in Yemen.

The strategy emphasizes the need to safe shift towards a locally-led response, empowering local actors and allocating humanitarian funding to the local level. It outlines key areas of focus, including strengthening direct partnerships with local actors, empowering local leadership, enhancing coordination and complementarity of the response system, increasing community participation and ownership, promoting an enabling environment for local actors, strengthening institutional capacities, and improving funding accessibility and quality.

The workshop provided a platform for participants to share their perspectives and concerns, which the Localization Initiative actively considered in refining the strategy. The updated version was then shared with all participants.

The Localization Initiative remains committed to working collaboratively with all stakeholders to advocate for and promote the localization agenda, ensuring that humanitarian and development efforts in Yemen are locally-led, effective, and sustainable.
